Really it depends for me. In general, it is "soda" but if it is a "Cola" type (Coca-cola, Pepsi, Other brand) it is "Coke".

Texas and those of my generation usually call all sodas coke.

I remember the first time hearing a waitress call it "pop", I was about 8 or 9 and I had no idea of what she was taking about.

Having family peppered throughout the southern US we had to learn as kids what to call it when "down south" and what to call it at home in the midwest. Illinois is not the same as Wisconsin/Minnesota/Iowa. This may very well be why I love Dr.Pepper, you do not call it by any other name.
