So this may be less relevant for those from North America where you can find a McDonalds, Starbucks, or whatever on almost every corner, but depending on where you are in the world, some brands and chains are simply not available. As an ex-pat living in Europe I have had to find creative ways to fill that craving every once in a while. To this date we still don't have any Starbucks, Taco Bell, Chic-fil-a, or many other major chains. The first McDonalds opened here in 1991, but they are only in 2 cities in the entire country. Subway arrived in 2014, KFC and Burger king arrived in 2019.
Since there are many major chains that are not here (along with many menu items that are not available even from the chains here), occasionally you have to make homemade copies of things. Chic-Fil-A is a good example of this... home breaded chicken along with homemade sauces to try and replicate that taste.
Have you ever tried to make a good homemade copy of a restaurant menu item? How was it and would you ever try again? What is something you couldn't live without and would try to make for yourself if you couldn't get it?
