I am not known for being a healthy eater, but I try to sneak healthy foods into my diet now and again. Do any of you snack on dehydrated fruits or vegetables? If so, what are your favorite types, and do you buy them or make them yourself?

I'm looking forward to hearing your snack recommendations!

Dried apples and apricots are my favorite. I dehydrate apples myself when I can get a deal on them at the store. Same with bananas (which I hate) . I will buy those boxes of bananas when they are really ripe and the store is about giving them away. It is like $3-$5 for a 25lb box. I will make a ton of banana bread and banana fruit leather. For the fruit leather I add strawberries, blueberries or cherries to make it taste better as I hate bananas. I only eat them because the doctor says they are good for me. WTF does he know! They are gross, but anyway.

Yes dehydrator in the liquid trays. My dehydrator has these flexible plastic trays that you can add liquid in to make fruit leather. i add a bunch of bananas into the blender and mix. If I add strawberries or pitted cherries I bled them with the bananas. For blueberries i blend them separate so I can sift / sieve / strain out the seeds prior to mix with the bananas. I do not add sugar or potassium. Pout the liquid into the trays and put it in and let it go. dry time varies on how deep you fill the trays.

I have some of those trays!

You can use them to dehydrate broth or certain soups.

I need to try and make my own bullion. I already make my own vegetable broth and chicken broth. I think I could use my chicken broth and dehydrate it to a powder for easier and longer shelf life. Then just add water to rehydrate. I will need to try this and report back.
